I Have a Dream Foundation Milwaukee Launches
IHDF-MKE originally launched in 2007 by Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett and Margaret Henningsen (civil rights advocate and Legacy Bank founder) with approximately 90 first and second grade students at Clarke Street School as a collaboration between the City of Milwaukee, Legacy Bank, the Brady Foundation and Kelben Foundation.
Despite significant external challenges IHDF and this first cohort of Dreamers experienced meaningful successes such as:
96% of the Dreamers graduated from high school and matriculated into a post-secondary pathway
The average cumulative GPA of college/university Dreamers was 3.151
